Ski Itineraries

Tignes and Val d'Isère form one of the most extensive ski areas in the world, known as the Espace Killy. With a combined 300 km of slopes, there's something for everyone—from beginners to seasoned experts. Below are a few suggested itineraries that cover different levels of ability, ensuring you make the most of your ski holiday in these iconic French Alps resorts. Each of these itineraries will help you experience the best that Tignes and Val d'Isère have to offer, whether you’re looking for leisurely exploration or adrenaline-pumping challenges.

Cruisey- The Sunny Side

  1. From Le Lac take the Palafour chair lift. Warm up your legs on the cruisey blue down to Grand Huit chair. Take the cruisey blues ‘Corniche’ and ‘Petit Col’ all the way back down to Chaudannes. This is a nice long run on perfectly groomed morning pistes. Stay away from the main run under Palafour as this will be busy first thing.

  2. Next take the Palafour chair. Ski down the lovely blue towards Tignes Les Boisses but take the Aigue Rouge chair back up. This might be the perfect opportunity to take a group picture at the TIGNES sign at the top. Ski back down into Le Lac, time for a coffee in the sun on the snowfront.

  3. Take Palafour again and this time head for Merles chair. At the top head down into Grattalu chair. Do a few laps of this chair and take advantage of the wide pistes and practice your carving turns.

  4. Time for lunch. Head down into Val Claret and take the Bolin chair. Head to Bolin restaurant just at the top, or a short ski down to Grizzly bar, the best place for a long lunch in the sun.

  5. After lunch ski back down into Val Claret and across the snowfront to Tichot chair lift, then take Grattalu. Take ‘lac’ piste down to the bottom of Merles but take the small rope drag next to the lift. From here you can take any of the blues back down into Le Lac.

  6. Finish your day at the Marmot arms for some live music.

Cruisey- Belvarde

  1. From Le Lac, take the Toviere bubble up. From here take advantage of the quiet and well groomed blue runs first thing in the morning. Take Creux and then Diebold all the way down into La Daille.

  2. Take the funicular back all the way to the top of the Bellevarde.

  3. Borsat loop. Ski down to 3J to the bottom of Borsat chair. Take this to the top. The top section of this run can be quite daunting but if you go all the way to the right there is a friendlier option down. Take genepy green run down toward Grand Pré chair. This is a fantastic cruisey blue run with great views.

  4. Stop at L'empreinte Avaline for a coffee.

  5. Take Grand Pré up and back down to enjoy some more cruisey greens.

  6. Now you have some free time before lunch to enjoy the amazing runs in this bowl. You can either cruise the greens of the Borsat section again or head up Fontaine Foire chair lift and lap some of the great blues under either Marmottes or Tommeuses chairs.

  7. For lunch head back to the top of Bellevarde to Maison Louly.

  8. After lunch, time to head back to Tignes. You have some options.

  9. Ski down to Borsat and take to the top. Head down Fresse and Praroid runs towards Val Claret. Then take the runs back around towards Le Lac. You can also arrange a pick up or take the bus from Val Claret.

  10. Ski down towards Tommeuses (You may stop at Follie Douce). Then take the chair up and Toviere bubble down into Le Lac.

Cruisey- Genepy

  1. From Le Lac take the Palafour chair lift. Warm up your legs on the cruisey blue down to Merles chair. Pay attention to not miss the turning here, keep right!

  2. At the top head down to Grattalu chair. Do a few laps of this chair and take advantage of the wide pistes and practice your carving turns.

  3. Head past the bottom of Grattalu and down into Val Claret. Pay attention here as it can be narrow and busy.

  4. Head up the funicular all the way to the bottom of the Grand Motte glacier. Have a coffee here and take in the breathtaking views over the Alps.

  5. Time for Genepy (no not the drink, the ski run). Keep right at the top and follow the blue signs for ‘genepy’. This is a fantastic long blue run that goes all the way back down into Val Claret.

  6. Time for lunch. Head  back up to the top of the Panoramic for a meat feast like no other. After lunch you can take a similar route down but take Raboch and Cairn pistes instead of Genepy.

  7. Ski down to Fresse chair and take this. Ski down Fresse (green) run down towards the Follie Douce. Dance the afternoon away here until 4.30 then take Tommeuses chair up and the Toviere bubble down. Don’t attempt to ski back and this run is very difficult at the end of the day.

  8. Head to Loop bar for some Apres.

Intermediate- Tignes Loop

  1. From Le Lac, take the Toviere bubble up. From here ski all the way down piste Henri into Val Claret.

  2. Take the funicular to to the top and then the Grand Motte cable car to the top of the glacier and the highest point in Tignes. This is a great place for a picture, you feel on top of the world.

  3. Now take the red runs all the way down to the bottom of Lanches in Val Claret, over 1000m of vertical descent.

  4. Head back up Lanches chair and then Vanoise. Time to take in some scenic views on the long Genepi run all the way back down. Stop for a coffee and gather the group at Le Taverne de neiges at the bottom.

  5. After coffee, either push across to Tichot chair lift or walk a small distance across the car park.

  6. At the top of Tichot, take Grattalu and ski down to Grand Huit chair lift (keep left). From the top ski all the way down into Le Lac.

  7. Take Palafour back up and then head for Grand Huit (keep right).

  8. From here you have a long descent all the way to Breviere for lunch. Take Poney (blue), then Myosotis (red), then Melezes, Chardons, Pavos.

  9. Once in Breviere, take your skis off and walk over the bridge to L’Armailly restaurant. This is a great restaurant with a broad menu and lots of Savoyard classics.

  10. After lunch take the Breviere, then the Boisses gondola, then the Aiguille Rouge chair.

  11. From here you can either head home via the Bleuets piste or do a few more laps of the Chaudanne and Palafour lifts before you call it a day.

  2. Take the funicular back all the way to the top of the Bellevarde.

  3. At the top of Bellevarde, check to make sure that the Santons piste is open.

  4. Head down the Fontaine Foire, Then Santons reds down into Val D’Isere. Santons can be a little narrow and tricky so take your time. At the bottom when it flattens out, you need to keep some speed.

  5. Once you come into Val D’Isere, take the Solaise gondola to the top. From here ski down to Plage to Ouillette. Have a coffee or a hot chocolate overlooking the frozen lake.

  6. Next take Madeleine chair up then take any of the blues down past Datcha chair, then either of the red to Laisinant. From here take either the red or blue down to the bottom of the Vallon bubble where the Signal restaurant is located, one of our favourite spots for lunch.

  7. After lunch, consider the time it take to get back to Tignes. Take the Vallon bubble and then the Lessieres chair (aka the up and over). Then ski down to Datcha chair.

  8. From the top of Datcha ski down to the PimPam magic carpet that takes you back to the top of Solaise. Now you can ski all the way down to Val D’Isere.

  9. In Val take the Olympic cable car up to the top of Bellevarde. Then head down Diebold to Tommeuses. To get back to Le Lac you can blue Henri then the black Johan Clarey back to Le Lac. The black can be not so nice at the end of the day so if you have tired legs, take the Toviere bubble down or ski down to Val Claret and take the bus back/arrange a pick up.

Expert- Make the most of Tignes

  1. From Le Lac, head up Chaudannes, do a lap of Bleuets red run to warm up the legs.

  4. Go up Toviere bubble. You might want to have a coffee at the top of Toviere and enjoy the views.

  6. Cross the snowfront and head back up Palafour and Aiguille Percée again. There is nice red ‘Cyclamen’ from the top, back down underneath the chair. Now stay right and head to Merles chair.

  7. At the top head down to Grattalu. From here you have a choice. Either head up Col de Ves and test yourself at the Moguls or head up the Snowpark lift and give the boardercross a go. After, head down into Val Claret.

  8. Jump on the funicular and then the Grand Motte cable car to the top of Tignes! Admire the views and then ski all the way down the reds back to Le Lac.

  9. Head back up the Funicular and time for lunch at the Panoramic.

  10. After lunch, take it easy and enjoy a long beautiful blue ‘Genepy’ that loops around the back back into Val Claret.

  11. Now head up Tuffs and then you have the black run back down into Le Lac to finish the day.

  12. If you don’t fancy the black run at the end of the day, you also have the option to loop back around the other side of Tignes. Or you can finish the day at Cocoricos in Val Claret for some dancing on the tables.

Expert- The 4 Corners

  1. The 4 corners is a famous challenge to ski to all 4 corners of the Val D’Isere Tignes ski area all in one day. That’s Breviere, Grand Motte, Fornet and Pisaillas glacier. Here is what we think is the most efficient way to do it from Le Lac.

  2. Head straight to Breviere by taking Chaudannes from Le Lac. Take the reds down to Brev.

  3. Head straight back up and now head straight to Val D’Isere. Up the Toviere gondola and down to Marmottes. At the top of Bellevarde take Face down into Val D’Isere.

  4. From Val head up the other side on the Solaise Gondola. Then ski all the way down into Laisinent.

  5. Head up the Laisinent chair and then all the way down to Fornet.

  6. Take the Fornet cable car, then the new Vallon bubble. Now head to the top of the Pisaillas glacier up the Cascade and then the Montet T Bar. Ski all the way down and back up Pays Desert.

  7. Take the Lessieres up and over chair then ski down to Datcha. Grab a quick bite to eat here.

  8. Jump on Datcha and then PimPam magic carpet. Ski all the way down into Val and get on Olympic.

  9. From the top of Bellevarde. Head to Borsat and ski down into Val Claret. Jump on the funicular and then the Grand Motte cable car to the top of the glacier. Congratulations you have completed the challenge! Complete your victory lap back down into Val Claret and celebrate in style with apres ski at Cocoricos.
